East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia
East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia
Nusa Tenggara Timur [East Nusa Tenggara Province] is one of Indonesia’s eastern provinces. The area is also known as the Lesser Sunda Islands. The capital, Kupang, is located on what the media calls West Timor. The one hundred and eleven islands that make up the province are a fascinating and diverse part of Indonesia’s archipelago. The most well known of the islands are Timor, Flores - which contains Komodo and Kelimutu, Sumba and the Solor and Alor archipelagos.
We have enjoyed going there since 1988. Until 1997 Marrara Christian College Year 9 Annual Study Tours through Kupang, the capital of NTT. In 1996 we received money from the Northern Territory’s Independent school’s Association to write a booklet for our students to read about East Nusa Tenggara Province before during and after their ten day trip to Kupang.
The book was written but with the fall of President Suharto and the departure of East Timor from Indonesia the school trips stopped. This website is that book. There are twenty eight chapters, each about a different place or topic.
